Akhona Booi was born and raised in Mthatha, Eastern Cape. I completed my pre-primary education in Mqanduli and finished high school in Durban. Having spent most of my life in KwaZulu-Natal, I have many years of experience in the corporate and communication industry. In 2010, I relocated back to Mthatha, where I became involved in a program focused on Career Guidance for youth, helping them find their career paths. I worked with the Department of Education (DoE) for six years as a Peer Group Trainer (PGT). After leaving my roles in government and private sectors, I joined Sakhisizwe Digital Education (a non-profit organization) to add value to the lives of underprivileged children through innovation and ICT-driven programs.
