Mbulelo Kalani – Board Member

Experienced public sector professional and Master of Public Administration(MPA) graduate with over 10 years of progressive experience in operations management, financial administration, and client service delivery within government environments. My academic training is complemented by a research specialisation in public financial management, financial planning, and housing delivery.

My Master’s research examined the relationship between housing delivery and budget allocation within the Eastern Cape Department of Human Settlements, providing in-depth insight into how fiscal decision making directly influences service delivery outcomes in the South African context. This has strengthened my ability to apply evidence-based approaches to planning, budgeting, and policy evaluation.

I bring demonstrated expertise in public sector risk management, including the identification assessment, and mitigation of organisational risks, as well as the strengthening of internal controls to enhance governance compliance, and audit outcomes. I have a proven track record in leading teams, optimising operational processes, and ensuring adherence to legislative and regulatory frameworks.

Passionate about improving the effectiveness, accountability, and transparency of public institutions, I offer strong capabilities in financial analysis, policy evaluation , stakeholder engagement and strategic planning. I am committed to advancing data-driven, people-centred solutions that promote sustainable development, improved service delivery, and social equity.

My key interests: Public Finance, Risk Management, Budgeting, Service Delivery, Housing Policy , Governance and Public Sector Performance.
